Best Sublimation Blanks for Beginners (What to Practice On First)

Best Sublimation Blanks for Beginners (What to Practice On First)

Did you just get a sublimation printer and not sure what to make first?

Start by Practicing on 100% Polyester Fabric

Sublimation works best on polyester materials and the closer to 100% polyester the brighter your colors will appear!

One of my favorite beginner hacks is buying large rolls of polyester fabric so you can test your printers colors and your heat press pressure.

You can find polyester fabric at places like: Amazon | In store at Walmart

Once you feel comfortable pressing on polyester you’ll be ready to start pressing sublimation blanks.

Step Two: Try a Sublimation Blank Bundle

Once you’re comfortable with your color and pressure settings the next step is experimenting with different sublimation blanks.

Buying a bundle is one of the best ways to do this because you get a variety of items to try at a good price! Below are are my two favorite beginner bundles!

Sublimation Starter Kit

Johnson Plastics Plus has an awesome sublimation starter bundles that include a tonnnn of different blanks for you to try out! The best part is that you can use code CRAFTYKARI to save!

They also offer a bundle that includes a sublimation printer, which is great if you’re just starting out and haven’t purchased one yet.

I also have a full video showing how I used this bundles and what projects you can make with them! :)

Sublimation Blank Kit

Another great option for beginners is Heat Press Nation blank kit. Their bundles includes a mix of popular blanks like:

• mugs | keychains | coasters and other beginner friendly items

These are great because you can try a variety of projects and figure out what you enjoy making most.

Final Tip for Sublimation Beginners

When you’re starting sublimation the goal is practice and experimentation. And trust me when you're just starting of there is going to be mistakes! That's why i recomend starting with an inexpensive materials like polyester fabric and then moving on to bundles so you can test different sublimation blanks and find what projects you enjoy most.

Once you find your favorite blanks that’s when the fun really starts@

If you’re new to sublimation, make sure to check out my Sublimation Beginner Series on Youtube where I walk through everything step by step so you can start creating with confidence.
